According to a recent survey, many couples believe that having ‘romantic love’ for each other is necessary to determine whether they would enter into marriage. Is Romantic love necessary for a happy marriage? Do you agree? Why?

Is Romantic Love Necessary For a Happy Marriage?
【讓/現】It is undeniable that love is the foundation of marriage. So, many married couples believe that having ‘romantic love’ for one another is a paramount reason to be married. 【他】Nevertheless, marriage is regarded as a symbol of commitment, companionship, and a journey binding two partners. 先定義、後闡述 【表】For this reason, I do believe a happy marriage does not necessarily tie up with so-called ‘romantic’ affection.
【理】To begin with, romantic love is considered a sorta emotion or something that can wear off over time. I believe it is somewhat like a temporal hallucination幻象. In other words, you may feel the excitement or having butterflies in your stomach (思春), just from the fantasy of someone. As time goes by, the reality reveals. Such romantic fantasy would no longer last. Yes, to say ‘Even if the sun refused to shine; even if the sea left the ocean, I would always love you..’ is really romantic. But to realize such promises in marriage, ‘true and committed love’ is indispensable instead, which is different to the alleged ‘romantic love’.
As just mentioned, romantic love is not the same as ‘true and committed love’. 【理】Beyond doubt, marriage is a life-time security and a long-term journey binding two individuals, with commitment and endurance. It is the bond between a couple and something you sustainably feel within your heart. 【讓】Many believe romantic love is similar to true love, but true love takes commitment to maintain a successful marriage. Committing with your partner is a choice with ‘endurance’ that can enhance a happy marriage, instead of temporal feelings. For instance, partners choose to keep their relationship going regardless of the obstacles they go through. Such attitude determines how we feel about our partner, which influences how one treat each other in a marriage relationship.
【理】Finally, marriage is a life-time crucial choice, in that should not be just based on romantic affection. Romance can form one of the bases of a marriage relationship but is sometimes not a requisite. 【現】Many people in our society marry for just romantic love, but it is proven that these marriages don’t last without the prepared ‘acceptance and endurance’. Some people agree that marriage is a journey in which two people must work together to make decisions or solve life problems, through that is not easy. Hence, I agree it is best to consider what priorities you want in your mate before marriage with ‘acceptance and endurance’, not just for romantic reasons.

【讓】Notwithstanding(讓步段) most prevalent ‘Great Love Stories’ like Romeo and Juliet must have their romantic elements, you would imagine what if they didn’t die and finally got married! When they got older, the beauty of Juliet didn’t last. Would Romeo still love Juliet without her attractive appearance? In reality, a pair of married couple will encounter different kinds of problems in which romantic love might make no use at all.
【表】In conclusion, (結論撮要)romantic love is not necessary for a happier marriage because it is just a kinda affection, it is different to true love with commitment and marriage should be a life-time choice with rational consideration. 啟發 Romance is not a sole expression of love, and as a matter of fact, there are many ways in which partners can express their love. Although romance plays a part in love, a happy marriage takes(需要) determination, respect, and trust.
